Board and Committee Positions

SolarShare would not be what it is today without the dedicated team of volunteer board and committee members that has guided the co-op since SolarShare was established in 2010.

As a co-operative corporation, SolarShare believes in a strong, democratic organization and respects and seeks to include diverse perspectives within its membership, and the membership of its board of directors and committees. SolarShare is committed to fostering and supporting equity, diversity and inclusivity in its board membership and committees so as to reflect the broadest range of qualifications, skills, experiences, perspectives and the myriad human identities essential to advancing SolarShare’s mission.

We welcome all members to participate and to bring their unique perspective, experience and expertise to SolarShare. Members may apply to volunteer their time on one of SolarShare’s working committees, or as a director. Directors are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. Committee members may be solicited by committees at any time. Information about SolarShare’s committees can be found here.

Our ideal board and committee candidates:

  • Are empathetic and effective communicators with strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Have a passion for community ownership
  • Understand impact investing, co-operatives and/or solar energy
  • Represent the diversity of Ontarians

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact SolarShare’s General Manager, Chris Caners at chris@solarbonds.ca for more information.
